rule break penalty system
We ask that you please respect the rules of our server. Nat Hist relies on rule compliance for the community to be enjoyable. If you don't like them there are many other great communities that may better suit your needs!
If you experienced a rule break:
-
If you are in the Discord and are a full member, please submit a Regular Ticket.
-
If you are not in the Discord, you can only use the Admin 911 system. See Chat Rules for details and limitations.
-
In general though, we highly recommend being in the Discord to get rule breaks addressed.
-
Additionally, please also do your best to submit a prior Player Report. These reports provide numerous helpful aspects for staff, for example, recent damage causers and nearby players.
-
If you break a Gameplay Rule:
After it is explicitly determined you broke a gameplay rule, Nat Hist Staff will do their best to reach out, alerting you of your penalty. It's your responsibility to heed their notification! This is why being in Discord is beneficial. Ensure your whispers are turned on in your game settings.
Penalties listed in order:
-
Official Warning
-
Reflection Timeout (24 ban)
-
Strike 1 (3-day ban)
-
Strike 2 (10-day ban)
-
Strike 3 (Permanent Ban + chance to appeal after 2 months)
Penalty Record Appeals and 6-month Record:
Your penalty record lasts 6 months from the date of your most recent penalty after which it is cleared. However, if you are in our Discord, you are allowed to appeal your penalty record one month from the date of your latest penalty. If your appeal is granted by a panel of admins, you will have to demonstrate an additional month of good behavior, and your penalty record will be expunged.
Und
These penalties ensure Nat Hist stays as a rule-following environment which contributes to the fun, and for players to experience consistency in rules enforcement. Nat Hist staff can see who kills who and we have access to player reports and chat logs. However, ultimately rule breaks can only be determined with assistive hard proof, so we encourage recording your replays and/or gameplay.

Server News & Announcements
- Welcome to our new website!
- We will no longer be accepting rule break messages through our website. Sorry! Please join our Discord to get a rule break handled.
- Please also note our new penalty system. This is to stop rampant rule breaks from folks who don't care about our community's vision. As always, we will be understanding where it is earned and fair.

If you break a Chat Rule:
After it is explicitly determined you broke a Chat Rule (see Nat Hist Chat Rules), you will receive an in-game message from a Nat Hist staff member indicating you have received a Chat Penalty.
Chat penalties listed in order:
-
Rule Reminder (optional 15-min mute)
-
Official Chat Warning (30-min mute)
-
Chat Strike 1 (24-hour mute)
-
Chat Strike 2 (3-day mute) + Gameplay Penalty
-
Chat Strike 3 (Permamute) + chance to appeal after 2 months.
If you go three months without earning a Chat Penalty your record will be reset to nothing.
Ban and Chat Mute Appeals:
Only permabans and permamutes are allowed to appeal and can only be appealed after the ban/mute has been active for 2 months.
Appeal requests can only be made in Discord via Lead Staff Ticket. They will decide to reject or grant your appeal for assessment. If an appeal is granted, a group of 6 staff members will gather to discuss the merits of either overturning or sustaining the ban/mute and decided via simple majority within 48 hours of an accepted appeal.
If your permaban is overturned, you will return to the server under a 2-week probationary period with the following conditions:
-
In-game chat mute for the probationary period.
-
A single rule-break allowance. Any more and you will be returned to permabanned status with no further opportunity to appeal.
If you complete your 2-week probation with no issues, your penalties will be fully cleared from the sheet, mute removed, and you will be allowed to return to play as normal.
If your Permamute is overturned, you will regain full chat access, no conditions.
Permabanned and Permamuted players will only have ONE chance to redeem themselves. If they appealed once before, they will NOT have another chance.
